Simple Tips to Keep Your Holiday Stress-Free

Most of the keys for a stress-free Christmas rely on some simple pre planning an organization. With that in mind the first thing we should do is figure out and write down a list of what activities and events we will need to get done along with how much time we have available. Then we simply have to prioritize the items on our list and chunk them down into smaller tasks that are more manageable. Here are some ideas to help you get started.

An obvious and often overlooked action that anyone can take to reduce some stress around the holidays is to finish his or her gift shopping early. If you have children, try to arrange a few days with a neighbor or friend where you can each baby-sit for each other in order to give the other a chance to do some early shopping. Also, don't forget to keep all of your receipts and write the purchase date and item name on the back them in case you have to do any returns. I would also advise you to keep all your receipts in the same place so you don't have to go fumbling around should you have to look for them.

While out shopping, it is also a good idea to pick up a few extra general type of gifts for those just in case moments. Things such as a simple bottle of wine, some quality coffee and maybe even some children's toys could end up being extremely handy in an unforeseen situation with any unexpected guests. It is also a good idea to wrap all of your gifts as soon as possible so that would be another less thing to worry about.

If you plan to attend any parties around the holidays, it is a good idea to arrange things with your babysitter well in advance or there is a strong likelihood you will have a difficult time finding someone to watch your children.

For those of us that are bakers we should try to set a baking day to get all of our holiday baking done in a single session, we can then freeze our cookies and other goodies for when they will be needed. This will help us not have to worry so much about keeping things clean as the holidays approach.

Don't forget to keep a fresh supply of new batteries for any gifts that might need them. You should also make sure that you know where your camera is and that you have plenty of film on hand for when it is time to start taking pictures to commemorate this particular Christmas. If you have a camcorder, be sure to have whatever recording media your camcorder uses somewhere handy.

Plan out your Christmas greeting card list in advance so that you will have enough time to write out all the names and addresses on each envelope and possibly add a personalized message to each card. You should also try to mail out all cards so that all of your recipients will receive their card sometime during the actual week of Christmas. And obviously don't forget to pick up enough cards and stamps for everyone on your list.

There are a lot more details and things that will need planning but hopefully the tips above will help get you started and allow you to enjoy your Christmas instead of worrying about if you have missed or forgot anything.
