One of the best ways of having a beautiful looking Christmas tree during the holidays is to incorporate a theme or a style when choosing decorations for your tree. You can let your creativity run wild and try for something unique or you can simply use a theme that follows a particular color scheme.

For example, you could decorate your tree using a gold and silver theme making use of gold ribbons, Silver beads and multicolored garland. Alternatively, perhaps you would like to decorate your tree along the lines of a down-home country style, you could string popcorn and cranberry to create your own garland and use things like cookie cutters and wooden toys as ornaments.

Here are some more tips used by many professional decorators to help give their Christmas trees a wonderful distinct style all of their own.

Try adding things found within nature to create and add an earthy feel to your theme. Combine seasonal colored ribbons with tiny twigs or dried flowers tied together and attach them to your tree with simple gold or silver wire. Using strands of raffia in place of garland is another option to give your tree its own unique look.

You can create an upscale theme for your tree by using elegant decorations made from satin and velvet. You can also incorporate faux crystal beads and different types of sparklers. Silk flowers would also make a welcomed addition and could help to add color and flare to your theme. Just remove the blossoms from the stems and you should easily be able to lay them along your Christmas trees branches and attach them with some fine wire.

Here are some more ideas that work well for a wide variety of themes. Use old-fashioned clip on candles to give your tree a wonderful look from a simpler time. Just make sure to never light any of the candles as they present an obvious fire hazard. Collect some pinecones or pick some up at your local craft store to help add to that traditional Christmas feel. You could also add glitter to your pinecones or create a sparkle effect with the use of some metallic spray if you want to maintain a specific congruence within your theme.

A really fun and different way to make use of themes is to decorate those oh so common miniature trees to go along with the room in which they are placed in. For example, a miniature tree in your kitchen could be decorated with small utensils and red bows, another example would be a tree in your bathroom decorated using things like tiny toothbrushes. As you can see, there are a lot of possibilities and different funky ways to go about decorating for the holidays.
